I.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Jesus is our example for proper motivation<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Matthew 20:17-19<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, 18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,<\/span> 19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him<\/span>: and the third day he shall rise again.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

II.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Do you seek titles and recognition?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Matthew 20:20-24<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedee\u2019s children with her sons, worshipping him<\/span>, and desiring a certain thing of him. 21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou?<\/span> She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?<\/span> They say unto him, We are able. 23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them<\/span> for whom it is prepared of my Father.<\/span> 24 And when the ten heard it<\/span>, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren<\/span><\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

C.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>We must serve unconditionally, not based upon perceived reputation and recognition? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Are you willing to serve, if no one knows about it?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Are you willing to serve if you do not get a title for your efforts?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Will you continue to serve if people are not constantly patting you on the back telling you what a wonderful Christian you are?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

III.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Do you seek to serve out of love?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Matthew 20:25-28<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

25 But Jesus called them unto him<\/span>, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.<\/span> 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;<\/span> 27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:<\/span> 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

2.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>The promotion to it<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

B.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>God promotes based on service<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

C.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>One must be others oriented in order to honor God.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Philippians 2:1-4<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

If there be<\/span> therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, 2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being<\/span> of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let<\/span> nothing be done<\/span> through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

IV.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Do you seek deliverance?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Matthew 20:29-34<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

29 And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. 30 And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou<\/span> Son of David. 31 And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou<\/span> Son of David. 32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?<\/span> 33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. 34 So Jesus had compassion on them<\/span>, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
