Matthew 19:17-22<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is<\/span> none good but one, that is<\/span>, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.<\/span> 18 He saith unto him, Which?\u00a0 <\/span>Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,<\/span> 19 Honour thy father and thy<\/span> mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.<\/span> 20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and<\/span> sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and<\/span> follow me.<\/span> 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

A.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>The law was made in order to expose unrighteousness, not create righteousness.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Romans 3:19-20<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.\u00a0 <\/span>20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is<\/span> the knowledge of sin<\/span><\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

B.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>If one offends in one part of the law, he is guilty of breaking the whole law.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

James 2:10-11<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point<\/span>, he is guilty of all. 11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.<\/span><\/em>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

C.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>The law is a diagnostic tool to expose our need for salvation outside the law.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Romans 3:21-25<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 Even the righteousness of God which is<\/span> by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be<\/span> a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;<\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

III.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>The Right Path to Salvation<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>With man, salvation is impossible<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Matthew 19:23-25<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.<\/span> 24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.<\/span> 25 When his disciples heard it<\/span>, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved<\/span><\/em>? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ephesians 2:8-9<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is<\/span> the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come<\/span> by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

B.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>With God, salvation is made possible, through the substitutionary work of Jesus on the cross. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

26 But Jesus beheld them<\/span>, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.<\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
