Introduction:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>We began our study regarding how to make a grand success of the Christian life by examining the subject of personal eternal security. \u00a0<\/span>One can know absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are born again believers, adopted into the family of God. \u00a0<\/span>Tonight we will look at a doctrine that is partner with personal assurance, eternal security. \u00a0<\/span>Opponents of this view believe that this doctrine is a license to sin. \u00a0<\/span>Tonight we will Biblically answer the question, does God keep His children saved forever or can they lose that salvation?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Salvation brings a change in nature<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

A.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>The natural human heart wants to have a religion of doing and doing. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Our carnal nature wants to earn heaven by our works and get credit for it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Scriptures teach that salvation comes wholly of grace and man cannot take any credit for it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ephesians 2:8-10<\/span><\/em><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is<\/span> the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost<\/span><\/em>; <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

C.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Everyone who is saved has a new nature<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Born again \u2013 born of God.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

2.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Partakers of the divine nature<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

A.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Present tense possession of eternal life.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>People do not partly save themselves through good works.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

6 And if by grace, then is it<\/span> no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be<\/span> of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work<\/span><\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? 2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

III.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Eternal security is not a license to sin.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>In Heaven Christians will weep tears of shame because they were not abiding in Christ as they ought when they were raptured.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

1 John 2:28<\/span><\/em><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.<\/span><\/em> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

B.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Christians in Heaven will have tears of terror, when they are called before the judgment seat of Christ.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2 Corinthians 5:10-11<\/span><\/em><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done<\/span> in his<\/span> body, according to that he hath done, whether it be<\/span> good or bad. 11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences. <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

C.<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>There will be tears of loss in Heaven when Christians find that their selfish works are burned up.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

1 Corinthians 3:11-15<\/span><\/em><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man\u2019s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man\u2019s work of what sort it is.\u00a0 <\/span>14 If any man\u2019s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man\u2019s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire<\/span><\/em>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
